Gluten Free Breaded Wings
This is the second time chicken wings have showed up in my recipes now. Wings are such a feel good food and they can actually be made really healthy and still be delicious. Most times we go out for chicken wings, they are lightly breaded, deep fried, and then tossed in a sugar laden sauce. Also, it’s hard to resist the fries and pint of beer that go so nicely with your wings. It’s so good while you’re indulging, but you always feel heavy and a little gross afterwards. These gluten free breaded wings are the solution to indulging in your craving for wings without the heavy and icky feeling you may get after eating deep fried foods.
Here is how it’s done:
Preheat your oven to 350 and then follow these 3 easy steps:
Step 1: Wet ingredients
In a bowl, mix one egg, 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1tbsp worcesterchire sauce & 1 tbsp of wheat free tamari
Step 2: Dry ingredients
In a bowl, mix 2 tbsp almond flour, 2 tbsp coconut flour, 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (for a cheesy taste), and then any spices you like. I used dashes of the following: garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, cumin, chilli powder, cayenne, paprika and turmeric (turmeric is very anti-inflammatory and gives the wings a nice golden colour).
*you can use any gluten free flour you like to substitute for almond and coconut flour if you wish*
Step 3: Put it all together
You will need 2 pounds of organic chicken wings (please buy organic meat, otherwise you are eating antibiotics, hormones and GMO feed that the animals were fed).
Mix the chicken wings into the wet bowl, coat the wings in the dry bowl, and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper
Stick them in the oven for 1 hour, and then let them cool for 5-10 minutes. Make a nice big salad or some roasted veggies on the side and your meal is complete!
